Sarkodie releases new single 'Brag', says he came to meet ‘jons’

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has dropped a new single called "Brag" at midnight on May 10.

He had revealed the single artwork on social media the day before with the caption "New music midnight #BRAG #TheChampionshipMixtape."

The 2 minutes 30-second track, has, at the time of writing this article, garnered thousands of plays across streaming platforms such as audiomack, Spotify and others.

In the song, Sarkodie, who says it is time to talk about his achievements, notes that his only true competition is American rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole and not any rapper or musician in Africa.

He also noted in the song that before coming into the scene over a decade ago, the people in the scene were all ‘jons’—a statement many deem disrespectful towards pioneering rappers.

Meanwhile, Sarkodie is set to release a new mixtape called "The Championship Mixtape" exclusively for his fanbase, Sarknation, on May 24.

However, he stated it may come earlier than that. He decided a few days ago to make the mixtape and release it in real time as a gift for his loyal fans, noted the rapper.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from Sarkodie, who was named Artist of the Decade at the Ghana Music Awards.

His last body of work was the November 2021 album "Jamz," followed by successful singles.
