TUE, 30 APR 2024 LISTEN

Reverend Eastwood Anaba, the leader of Fountain Gate Chapel, has cautioned Christians regarding the detrimental impact of social media on their spiritual lives.

In a recent sermon, Reverend Anaba expressed concern over the pervasive influence of social media, noting that many individuals are prioritising online activities over the study of the Bible and spiritual growth.

He cautioned that such a trend is not conducive to their faith and urged believers to reevaluate their priorities.

According to Reverend Anaba, the excessive time spent on social media detracts the youth from meaningful engagement with scripture and reflection on God's teachings.

He highlighted the importance of regular Bible study as a means of nurturing one's relationship with God and deepening spiritual understanding.

Reverend Anaba further voiced his apprehension that the charm of social media has led some Christians to adopt a complacent attitude towards their faith, behaving as though there is no judgement day.

"Social media has taken you away from your Bible. The number of times you read your Bible is less than the time you spend on Facebook and Instagram. Some of you stay on the thing [social media] from one to another. When was the last time you sat in front of the Word of God for even an hour?" Reverend Anaba remarked.

He continued, “Today I’m calling a church to repentance. I’m calling a church and declaring that it is time for revival. It looks like we are too happy. It looks like there is no hell, and it looks like there is no heaven. But I came to announce to somebody that it is appointed unto man to die once, and after that there is judgement. Judgement is coming, so you better get your life in order.”
