Ghana is premier business destination – Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey

In a bid to elevate Ghana as a premier business destination, Hon Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integrations, has called on the diplomatic community to actively promote Ghana as the preferred location for business.

Highlighting Ghana's conducive business environment, Hon Ayorkor Botchwey emphasized the government's efforts in implementing measures to facilitate business operations. These measures include the digitization of the economy through initiatives such as e-business registration, a paperless port clearance system, digital addressing, mobile money services, and the national identification card system.

Speaking at the Economic Counselor's Dialogue 2024, themed "Navigating The Change of International Investment Agreement," organized by Ghana Investment Promotion Center in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integrations, Hon Ayorkor Botchwey stressed the importance of creating an enabling environment for fruitful and mutually beneficial investments between Ghana and its partners.

Echoing Hon. Ayorkor Botchwey's sentiments, Mr. Yofi Grant, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), underscored the need for Ghana to leverage its abundant natural resources for sustainable economic growth. Mr Grant acknowledged the challenges in resource management but emphasized the potential for Ghana to emerge as an industrial hub.

Mr Yofi Grant further opined that it is time for Africans to change the narrative from being the poorest continent to an industrial hub. He highlighted the pivotal role of initiatives like the Free SHS program by the NPP government in inspiring Ghanaian youth to embrace industrialization as the future.

The Economic Counselors Dialogue serves as an annual platform bringing together entrepreneurs, industrialists, and investors to brainstorm strategies for African growth. The dialogue aims to educate the diplomatic community about GIPC's investment policies and programs, facilitating information dissemination to potential and existing investors interested in Ghana.

Furthermore, the dialogue seeks to foster collaboration between economic, trade, and commercial attaches of various foreign missions in Ghana, alongside foreign business associations and relevant government agencies.
